I am in a discussion with a nurse who takes care of terminally ill patients. She fears Obamacare can not be sustained. From that point our conversations got to the point of euthanasia and also to let people die if they want to. There are lots of problems with both of those. People used to be able to die a natural death but these days we try to keep them alive no matter what. I think we need to take a look at the terminally ill and make some suggestions on how to handle the people who no longer have a "QUALITY OF LIFE'. What are your ideas?

Obamacare can not be sustained very long regardless of it form.
Euthanasia - it goes on every day everywhere I have ever worked. Let's up Mr Miller's Morphine drip and make him comfortable
Let people die if they want - I have worked in the industry for 20yrs. In a similar conversation I heard a Dr say, "Only depressed people want to die." I disagreed with him then - but after a few years in the trenches - he was absolutely right.
People used to be able to die a natural death but these days we try to keep them alive no matter what.
2 points. That natural death you are talking about were from normal everyday things like - Strep - Staph - I fell off my horse and ruptured my spleen - I had a compound fracture and died from infection or blood loss. The second point is that since the era of the Rockefeller School of Medicine, these last years of a patients life yield the best data for new drug or procedural trials.
I think we need to take a look at the terminally ill and make some suggestions on how to handle the people who no longer have a "QUALITY OF LIFE'. What are your ideas?
Quality of life is such a hard issue - why - because it is a Faith based issue. Regardless of type of religion - religious people are more prone to be pro-life. Once a body is dead, the spirit trapped within can no longer develop. The chance to be saved - grow - awaken - or chance to witness - share and touch others. If the spirit was mature and the process of ascension left the physical body behind that's a different story.
This is our future - as money tightens and services cost more and more - compromises - limits - will have to be set. In Oregon, if you are over 75 you can kiss a heart transplant goodbye. Just wait until other limits begin to tighten. Eventually people are just going to die on long waiting list - look at the UK or Canada.
The whole system will crash - and we will all be out of luck until there is a major overhaul of the system - as in revolution and the fall of the US -- which may not be that far away (<25yrs)
You spoke about the way things once were - back when your true friend would shoot you in the heart instead of leaving you alive in the desert with a gut shot.
Ever heard of hemlock tea? Poison right -- not really, but consistent overdosing drives your potassium levels up until your heart stops. Potassium Chloride is the drug of choice for lethal injections - oderless - tasteless - no evidence of it in a postmortem exam - both potassium and chloride are normal to the body. Either way - drive your potassium >6.0 for very long and see what happens.

My neighbor died 2 weeks ago. She was on dialyis every other day for years. She had cancer which was in remission but it came back. She again went thru chemo and then ending up in a nursing home. When her 30 days were over they sent her toanother one. Then the family was toldthey had to take her home as money ranout. She died at home 3 days later after she was sent home. She was 70. The family was furious.

Every notice that most mental patients need therapy for just as long as the insurance holds out. Insurance dries up and suddentlythe pscych patient is well enough to go it on their own.

It is not just the mentally ill but medical patients also. My sister has terminal ovarian cancer. She has been in and out of the hospital. She is 73 or 74. She just went thru chemo that almost killed her. She is in nursing home. When her 30 days was up they said she had to leave. My nephew stepped in and said "NO" she stays here. So she is still there. She said they cannot put her out on the street. But maybe my nephew is giving them some money. I don't know.

I got this in an email from my sister:
THE CARE BILL HB 3200, Obama Care Highlighted by Page Number
Judge Kithil of Marble Falls, TX - highlighted the most egregious pages of HB3200
Page 50/section 152: The bill will provide insurance to all non-U.S. residents, even if they are here illegally.
Page 58 and 59: The government will have real-time access to an individual's bank account and will have the authority to make electronic fund transfers from those accounts.
Page 65/section 164: The plan will be subsidized (by the government) for all union members, union retirees and for community organizations (such as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now - ACORN).
Page 203/line 14-15: The tax imposed under this section will not be treated as a tax. (How could anybody in their right mind come up with that?)
Page 241 and 253: Doctors will all be paid the same regardless of specialty, and the government will set all doctors' fees.
Page 272. section 1145: Cancer hospital will ration care according to the patient's age.
Page 317 and 321: The government will impose a prohibition on hospital expansion; however, communities may petition for an exception.
Page 425, line 4-12: The government mandates advance-care planning consultations. Those on Social Security will be required to attend an end-of-life planning" seminar every five years. (Death counseling..)
Page 429, line 13-25: The government will specify which doctors can write an end-of-life order.
Judge Kithil then goes on to identify: "Finally, it is specifically stated that this bill will not apply to members of Congress. Members of Congress are already exempt from the Social Security system, and have a well-funded private plan that covers their retirement needs."

Another email same sibling
MEDICARE..
Look clearly at the 2014 rate compared to the 2013 rate.
"The per personal Medicare insurance premium will increase from the present monthly fee of $96.40, rising to:
$104.20 in 2012 $120.20 in 2013 and $247.00 in 2014."
These are provisions incorporated in the Obamacare gislation, purposely delayed so as not to confuse the 2012 re-election campaigns.
Unlike a Texas Circuit Judge I have no clue as to the origin of this data.

If I have to spend $247 a month for medicare I would not be able to continue to keep my house. It really scares the hell out of me. I heard one of the senators in Washington (I don't remember who} but he thought $2200 a month for a family of 4 was not too much to spend for medical insurance. He must be one of those aliens that are buzzing over my house.

It won't be us spending what it takes to stay alive it is what others will pay. Eliminate all your assets and then go on the dole. We are already slaves to our debt. We used to think credit card debt of $1000 was high but I have seen on tv debt of $80,000 or more. I just received an email from my brother wherein he talked about the new auto called TESLA. Who would spend all that money for a car. Well lots of people because they cannot make them fast enough. The slogan is BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME now the slogan is MAKE IT AND THEY WILL BUY IT.
