Greetings Dillon
Dillon" Indeed, although Yom Kippur is the most solemn day of the year, it is suffused with an undercurrent of joy; it is the joy of being immersed in the spirituality of the day and expresses confidence that G‑d will accept our repentance, forgive our sins, and seal our verdict for a year of life, health and happiness.
R" Yes the Day of Atonment is about this idea indeed. Well said.

D"Rabbi Singer’s point – the metaphor never changes the literal scripture
R" I never said a simile changes the story of the poetry
I said there are at least two stories in poetry, one is literally as it reads, "a dam blocks the river and releases the flow of water slowly and carefully"
But similes also allow for another story "a husband blocks the love and releases the flow of love from his wife slowly and carefully"
Sometimes we can mix the two stories together, because similes are two literal stories that parallel each other.
A feminine breast from the wife is masculine because the dam controls her love and fills her with her husbands love, but the wife responds in supplying her love to others in the family.
In no way does one parallel destroy the other parallel, both are valid.
My point is you fail to see the other parallel stories in Ezekiel's poetry similes.
Not only does man guard the holy stones of God, but so do cherubim also guard. Both are valid.
DO you agree with this idea?
Rp" " You do not consume air per se'
D"You’re an idiot
RP" Plants do not die when animals eat them
D"You’re an idiot
R " A normal person would not reply to you Dave, you are rude and not following your own rules on your forum.
If you want a technical assessment of the O2 molecule, I am happy to give you one. You do not "consume O2" molecules, you only harvest the energy stored in the bonding between them,
You also owe me apology for speaking "that plants do not die when you eat them" Why do you think God made the whole Creation Herbaceous ? All you do is mock, so mock on, don't bother saying I am right in my reply, I am not used to your compliments anyway... I give you , but you do not know such things.
Life does not come from death....it comes from the energy stored in living things, and when an animal is killed, the living stored in the molecules remain stored, so another living organism can extract that energy and make something purposeful from the biochemistry.
Sure I get you have to kill an animal in order to "eat the life stored" in it, but than you go to an extreme religious point, saying life comes from death, which is does not.
Life only comes from our heavenly Father. He is the ultimate source of all life and thus all energy.
