My conclusion
This is an academic Jewish view – straight from the Rabbi himself
Is this the only Jewish view – I am sure it is not
Can I back him up with 100s of ahl scriptures – no way

Is this the mainstream Jewish view? – I would love to ask Dan Black at AHR

The desire is for the re-connection the that relationship that sustains us
This is our only Free Will Choice to Seek or not to Seek - that is the question

Luke 16 - Lazarus straight to Adams Bosom
Either way - Man wants to become Soul Dominate once again - but doesn't know how
The Soul yearns to remember - seeks to remember - we desire to be AWAKENED
Christ - is the expediter - He is the Savior - He opens that door we are knocking upon
Once the door is open - The Holy Spirit reaches back to us
Being Born again - Baptism of the Holy Spirit - Pentecost - a re-establishing the connection

Go straight to Adam's Bosom - heaven - to await final Judgement
(A) Passover Torment through Christ's Passover

Jewish - Shiva + Haddish = 12 months - then saved - to await final Judgement
Catholic - Purgatory = The time = the crime - then saved -to await final Judgement
Gnostic - 3 options

Non-proportional Punishment
Southern Baptist Protestant = black or white - in or out - eternal - no options
Protestants in general all adhere to a variation to absolute-ism

How do we strengthen that relationship
Rabbi Friedman says every time we do Mitzvah counts
every good deed counts

For me - the key here is the term 'every time'

When does every time become all the time?

My Example #1
An Amish School house was attacked by a gunman that killed 7 Amish girls - then himself
People brought food to the Amish in mourning - then in turn took some to the gunman's wife
She asked why would they do that - simple - she suffered a loss as well

Later in an interview with an Amish mother that lost 2 girls that day, the wife of the gunman asked the Amish mother how she could ever forgive the gunman?

The Amish mother answered - it is so easy - I just close my eyes and pray and I give my anger to the Lord

It's that easy? Yes, she answered, it is that easy - then I take a step and do it again, another step and another prayer, over and over until I lay myself down to sleep - then tomorrow, I just do it over and over, until I have no more tomorrows.

Example #2 - When does walking with the spirit stop being a Sun day stroll and start way of life. When you walk in the spirit all the time. When you walk with Him - He walks with you.

Why is the Rabbi using the word "nephesh" for "ruwach". The statement is true IF and only IF we use "ruwach" is living and cannot die, the Ruwach enters the body and together the body lives and when the body dies the ruwach goes back to GOD. That's the Hebrew scriptures.

He is swapping Hebrew words and adding confusion in the use of terms.

This statement is misleading because its based on a single text that does not use the word "live". Here is the only text, as to what happens the "bits" inside the "ruwach".

Ec 3:21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?

Ec 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave (Nathan) it.

The Hebrew word "Nathan" is an important clue, 5414, meaning "Over the Nations towards an important mark over the nations" meaning to give.

The pictograph meaning suggests GOD comes over mankind and gives us something that moves us towards an important mark, "salvation" which is given to all of mankind.

The ruwach is NOT a part of the body that leaves the body, like some living eternal part of you. It's a gift of divinity that leaves the body. Solomon who wrote Eccel didn't know if the "ruwach of man" goes upward when the nephesh dies. What is this expression "ruwach of man" about ? Actually the Hebrew has three words here "the ruwach ben adam" the "Holy Spirit Son of Man" what does this mean? The phrase "Son of Man" is used lots, also a reference to Jesus, but what about the "Spirit of Man" (ruwach adam)?

Ge 6:3 ¶ And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man,

Here is a clue, YHWH speaks of MY ruwach with Adam (Man)

Ps 32:2 Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

Here is another clue. YHWH puts on the ruwach guilt (avon) and some of us have a ruwach with no guile.

Ec 3:19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.

This passage says the ruwach and adam have the same breath, all go to the same place. We never here of animals with an after life do we? only humans???

Ec 8:8 There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death:

Here is another clue of ruwach and adam, we have no power over the ruwach.

Eze 37:9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.

Another clue here, if no ruwach is around the body is just a pile of bones.

Now add this strange verse in the NT:

Ro 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

So this suggests the Holy Spirit records our feelings, our thoughts and our DNA genetic development for us as a record, bearing witness that our "spirit" or "collections of relationship with the Ruwach" is indeed worthy that we are children of GOD.

9:16 The body is just mineral, the soul on the other hand is always alive and always continue to live.

Again the Rabbi is swapping the term "ruwach" for "nephesh", can we do this? NO

Ge 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Oh I might see his point, the English word "became" is not Hebrew, it says "chay" "Nehpesh" and may suggest nehpesh is a thing already eternal?

Let's test this idea?

Ge 19:20 Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live. "nephesh chayah"

Why is the person concerned if his nephesh should liveth? if it is always eternal? Obviously it is not.

Ge 35:18 And it came to pass, as her soul "nephesh" was in departing , (for she died "muwth") This suggests the nephesh departs and can die?

Ge 37:21 And Reuben heard it, and he delivered him out of their hands; and said, Let us not kill him.

This suggests let us not kill the nephesh. Thus nephesh is not eternal.

13:54 I like some bits and some bits are weird. Too many ideas too quickly an no Hebrew texts shown.

He speaks of relationship with ruwach and body, and it is relationship that matters, but he uses this term to make the mineral body alive. Yes, but this is not the relationship that matters. Relationship with GOD matters.

The Scriptures do not tell us much about shaowl it's an unknown place, how do we know this?

De 32:22 For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, Shaowl "the pressed strong secure authority".

Job 11:8 It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know?

Both where GOD is and Shaowl is are opposite places.

Job 26:6 Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.

Shaowl has no covering of GOD

Ps 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

People who go to shaowl forget about GOD.

Ps 16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

The first Being to go to shaowl was Jesus, who did this for us.

Ps 86:13 For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.

This doesn't say we go to shaowl when we die, but that we may go there if God has no mercy for us going there.

Pr 23:14 Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.

"nephesh from shaowl" wow, I ponder confusion here. how can nephesh experience shaowl? The rod is a simile of Jesus, perhaps Jesus delivers us if we choose Him?

Mt 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

This helps, shaowl is the end of everything, body and nephesh.

Re 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

The holy Spirit is our teacher our guide, tells us how to go through this confusion... so it's OK to have differences of pondering... as long as we get to experience heaven with GOD, ...the ultimate goal is to experience salvation in Jesus and enjoy the peace with GOD forever...

Mt 8:9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

Soldiers do not experience GOD when they do as their boss says to do, thus faith cannot mean "experience with God"

How do I weight his story for me?
It is very Jewish - it is very Gnostic (First Century Christianity)
It is very Catholic - the term Purgatory (3rd century Christianity)

It just doesn't fit with the absolute-ism of Reformed Protestants
Almost as if the original form was usurped and altered just enough to corrupt it

I would like to talk to Dan Black via email, but I only got a few replies from him. I don't know why one who is anti-Christian, would bother reading Hebrew so deeply?

It's a difficult thing talking to others Dave, you raise an interesting question.

I ran into a friend called John, we emailed over 3 years more than hundred's of times, the first 70 emails or so, I tried to find ways to show how Jesus pre-existed, and he responded to every evidence I presented, that Jesus never pre-existed. I also repaired and set up his website, even though it is totally against my own faith, it was his faith, so I prayed to GOD about this, and set it up for him. He is not used to PHP programming. He said he didn't mind me sending his points, it only sharpened his answers. After a year or so, I decided to be just a friend. He was always kind with his answers, and I learned a lot from John. I still see he understanding is wrong, but I pray God will over look some in the light they live up to. Perhaps understanding all the truth doesn't matter?

Perhaps you might help me with this question. Does one have to know all doctrines of truth to be wholly saved by Jesus, or does he save you in the light you know? I suspect He does. That means a "pagan head hunter" could be saved, as long as he listened to the Holy Spirit via his conscience and followed in his culture what little light of truth came his way. That's what I see, so it doesn't matter much about knowledge so much, but that we learn to ponder confusion in the right spirit of fellowship. I think the Dark Ages of persecution were done because wicked people can't stand kind people, and not because they see things differently. Though sometimes some good people are killed for their efforts to living differently to the masses. For example, if I started to cure people of cancer using hyperbaric chambers of oxygen and changes to diet, my life expectancy would go down rapidly. Holistic doctors have vanished from earth in America and other places, because they stand in opposition to manufactured medicine.

I do plan to purchase ionic meters, and publish my medical health advice as science experiments on health on our website, following William Reich research on Orgone Energy, I suspect it will close down my witness , but than I won't care. I want to prove health studies on my own, and do it scientifically and simply, without the 'who har'. My understanding with this device, you can place a healthy organic tomato on the machine and a GMO tomato on the machine, and you should get differences in readings of bionic life radiating from the two tomatoes. Photograph the readings, and publish the results. That's the theory, not sure if it will work. But  hope to give it a go.

As for the Rabbi, I would love to meet him face to face, and talk. He talks "grace with words" and is nice. I would ask him, so why do you align "soul" with the Hebrew word "ruwach" and not "nephesh". We would go from there. I think he mixes the Hebrew words. He would have to slow down heaps, because I don't know Hebrew that well.

How successful was GOD in Saving those who wanted to leave Slavery in Egypt? Did GOD save all of them?

Here the people make a tragic mistake: They did not understand salvation at all. "Can one obey torah through human powers alone?"
NO, but the people said yes.

Ex 24:12 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.

Notice "torah" and "yarah" are about a Teacher with Teachings that Teach us. But what is the students response? to follow the teachings of teacher using human powers alone? This kind of response means nothing to GOD.

Why doesn't GOD make it clear, to them? Well both processes of salvation are required, hence why both commandment processes are in John 15, the Father's teachings and Jesus teachings. The people don't get it. See Romans 10.

Ex 24:17 And the sight of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel.
18 And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.

So in physical sight the people saw GOD all 40 days, saw Moses up there, Saw GOD's power in coloured array the whole time. So what happens when people follow the teachings using human powers alone? They sin. And badly too.

Ex 32:1 ¶ And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

What, they could see the coloured fire on the mount?

Ex 32:7 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves:
8 They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

Notice the people make a representation of the Divine Family in heaven using human technology. They tried to see the Divine in the Human eyes, using Human powers, using self.

The calf is a symbol of the first letter of Hebrew, and means strong. It is a human symbol of the divine. Nothing wrong with that? Well God thought so.

Ex 32:28 And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.
29 For Moses had said, Consecrate yourselves to day to the LORD, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day.

Now will these 3000 people who died, be saved? I don't think so, but we should not judge, God is our judge.

Moses prays for the living to be forgiven, not the dead ones.

When it comes to Scripture, I have to use the Hebrew terms as Hebrew scripture only defines them. This is scary because if a book or scroll contains a meaning different from the others, this one text drags the other texts with it. Hence we better get out sacred writings right first. Thus the OT former rains, says there has to be an NT latter rains as well. By definition, the OT is NOT all there is.

For example, faith is defined by support by one text, Ex 17:12
and salvation by a person's support only in one text, Hab 2:4
and the Holy Spirit as "her wings", one text Hosea 4:19
former and latter rains, one text Hosea 6:3

If some, as they claim, even from my own faith, that they need a lot of clear numerous texts to back up a theme, I am sunk, and so is Scripture. Clear numerous texts do not exist.

Hence why so many ponder confusion.

I feel touched Dave, that you read my last letter to my Dad before he died of cancer. Thank you very much for the comments. I am moved very much. Yes we agree a lot, only express words differently. I don't know if it helped my Dad to choose GOD before he died of not, but he said to my brother, a Pastor, "your God is my God" and that was as far as it went publically. Ah yes the Australian idioms, you got them sorted well enough.

Let me tell you a true story, the only time I saw a tiny tear drop in my Dad's eye. I was backing my Dad up. My second brother has punched my Dad, knocking him to the floor in rage. 'cause he reckons Dad was never around for him. What? I disagree.

I am the oldest, my second brother feels he is the boss, he bosses me all the time. Took over even the funeral of my Dad. He is taking over the medical rights of my Mum. He has control of all my Mum's money. He is atheist and yet my Mum has faith in God like me, but supports my brother and not me, go figure?

Well sometimes Mum and Dad loved to dance and go social stuff together and parked the car with all five kids, about 50m away, with chips to eat, the eldest boy (me) was in charge. I watched through the window and saw Mum and Dad dancing and felt the love of the two and enjoyed the bliss, my brother on the other hand remembers the exact same event, and with rage felt abandoned.

Funny that, same event, same facts, same memories. I feel love from them both, while the other brother feels rage and resentment. Well that one tear, when I told this story to Dad is my only priceless memory of the love my Dad showed to me. No words, no expressions, no thank you, no hugs, just that single solitary tear. Precious.

Australians as a rule do not show emotions or feelings. That is sad, but that's how it is for some of us. It's changing now some what.

Wow Dave you mentioned a very interesting thing. So even English is different in meaning and sounds between countries. "American meaning of "gas" and "salad" and "fries" is very different to Australian meaning "petrol" and "lettuce" and "potato chips".

So this leads one to the Rabbi method, rather than debate vocabulary all day, isn't there a child like technique that allows anyone all over the world to assess the Scripture meaning of words with the same meanings?

This technique has been used my me for many years, from 2003, when God impressed me to purchase an electronic Bible.

This verse cross references "kathemstemi" to the correct Hebrew word:

The Hebrew word "shalliyt" must also mean "ruler"...let see

(I didn't know about this Hebrew thing across the NT with OT, back in 2003).

Ec 7:19 Wisdom strengtheneth the wise more than ten mighty men (rulers) which are in the city.

Ec 8:8 There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death: and there is no discharge in that war; neither shall wickedness deliver those that are given to it. (KJV)

Ec 8:8 There is no man that (can) rule over the spirit to retain the spirit; (ancient Hebrew)

Ec 10:5 There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, as an error which proceedeth from the ruler: (KJV - correct)

So we have found the correct meaning, across the NT and OT.

There are some powerful texts concerning this:

Ro 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. (KJV)

Ro 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were ruled sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be ruled righteous.

This corrected translation says, humans are not born sinners, we become sinners from sinning. The reason why we are born sinning is because we have a ruler over our mind, helping the fetus sin, from within the womb. A special vow (the Narazite vow) a person born of the Holy Spirit as a ruler over your mind from birth, can stop this, so Samson, Samuel and Jesus, to name some, were born without sinning from birth.

Salvation than is about changing the ruler who rules over us. The Holy Spirit might be partnered with us, administrating us with living, but does not rule over us, unless we choose the salvation process Jesus offers us.

Notice in the OT :

Ec 8:8 There is no man that hath "ruling" over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death:

This verse says the nephesh is a result of relationship, man can NOT rule over the Holy Spirit, to stop the Holy Spirit leaving you in the day of your mortal death. Why is an Aramaic word here among Hebrew ones " (power)" ?

Only used twice, both by Solomon in Eccel.

Finally one can check meaning of Hebrew words using the Jeff Benner theory of letters, made simple by myself:

The Hebrew word 7989, has the pictograph letter meanings" The pressed authority active covers" Jeff says this word means "master" and I say it means "ruler", both meaning as essentially the same.

The word is related to shield "Pressed Authority Covers", so this "ruler" protects you, shields you. Though if Satan was ruling over you, the shield would be his pressed authority covering you, very differently, shielding you from God's influence.

So please Dave, read through this child life method of studying words, and tell me what you think.

I would love how Rabbi do this? I suspect they use Talmud, rather than torah alone, and so traditional use is more important than sola scriptoria.

If the OT and NT torah is inspired, the word meanings should be consistently the same regardless of authors and context.

And finally how do you study words?

And if you check my word studies, you see this technique used all the time. A really weird example changing meanings in the NT heaps is the use of chata and chataah, sadly both seen in the NT as sin.

Romans 6 is a chapter of pondering confusion if we do not understand the difference between chata and chataah, or hamartano and hamartia

Paul seems to make sin-offering as personification concept for the follower of Jesus, who support Jesus, as his "sin-offering".
Ro 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin-offering, that grace may abound? God forbid.

This theme is important, if followers of Jesus, live under the "sin-offering", do we continue to sin, since we have "cheap grace" ? No

Paul ends with " Ro 6:23 For the wages of sin-offering is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

If the sinner truly confesses sinning unto the sin-offering process, the personification has to die, both Jesus and you, and your sin, must die, otherwise you haven't really got a relationship with Jesus.

Notice this verse of John

1Jo 5:18 ¶ We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not (KJV translated correctly)


So getting the basic meanings of words is important. And we need a simple child like method in order to achieve this.

Never use the Strong's Dictionary for help in word meanings. Typically you are relying on a human for wisdom rather than the Holy Spirit, and Strong's list over 10 different meanings for the Greek word "kathistemi". How ridiculous is this ?

I have several Greek lexicons – some for NT Greek and some for a broader study – between all of them I have almost 40 different applications of this word – it depends a lot on who used the word. Homer, in 700 BC used it differently than Luke did in the NT 100 AD

Lexicon designed for NT Greek studies are put together by the Catholic Church
Their definitions reflect a Roman bias
Classical Greek lexicons read differently

First you have to believe that in any language, all words have a single basic meaning regardless of its context. Sure a few words in any language might have multiple meanings for a word, but it's uncommon or rare. If you don't believe in this assumption, we can't even agree on a Bible method for studying our Bibles. You would have many scholars agreeing with you, for they seem to think any language has hundreds of multiple meaning words in any language, and Hebrew and Greek is no exception. Really people, how can be be so blind to the simple facts of a language ? In the development of a village like language, simple words come into being with a single picture in mind, and over time, perhaps because of technology and from invasions of other cultures would words have other multiple meanings, but generally such things are uncommon.

I strongly disagree – words are fluid – through groups, families, academic institutions, and time

Look at these English words

Queer – used to be a common everyday word meaning something odd - then someone homosexual – now it is a ‘Bad’ word ‘a negative insult’ – on the list of words children are not supposed to use

Gay – used to be happy and joyful – and now means?

@#$% – what does this word mean in English? – this word has 10 thousand applications depending on its user, its context, and its audience

Hell – used to mean (to hide away) today in England and Ireland they still “hell” the potatoes – but to everyone else in the world it means Dante’s Infernal

Yes, Hebrew can use a construct chain, using nouns, to give an adjectival phrase. That leads to something foundational here in the Greek of Romans 8:3: en homoiômati sarkos hamartias is, literally, “in likeness of flesh of sin.” There are actually three nouns here. Following the preposition en / ‘in’ that takes a dative (indirect object) in the noun that follows, homoiômati, ‘likeness’, which is a singular, neuter, dative noun (same form as in Phil 2:7). Then sarkos ‘flesh’ is a feminine singular noun in the genitive (or possessive) case, and it is followed by another feminine, singular noun in the genitive case, hamartias ‘sin’. Thus it is like a Semitic construct chain of nouns that amounts to an adjectival phrase: “in [supply ‘the’] likeness of [supply ‘the’] flesh of sin” that amounts to “in the likeness of sinful flesh.”

You will notice people in general are unwilling to accept the "evidence" from another person, because we are unwilling to accept change, because we value our own "religion" despite the new evidence that may challenge our own "theory of faith".

To me – this is more of a 99% - 1% proposition
1% reject it because it is contrary to their previously held ‘religion’
99% don’t have a clue what they believe – theses people don’t have the conviction of religion

These people don’t know what they believe
Why can’t you get the common guy to engage in a Bible discussion?
Because if they say something – that means they believe something – and they don’t know what they believe

For these people – which is the 99% by my estimate (probably 99.999999%)
The conversation is all about vocabulary

All you can do is - get the conversation started - if you are interesting enough in dragging more and more scripture into the conversation - to support their views - I try to show them that their views are actually scriptural

Conclusion: Christians are spiritually grafted into Israel, and follow the torah teachings which train them to follow Jesus. In order to follow Jesus better, our Bible thinking has to be a simile of Ancient Hebrew thinking, and our lifestyle will broadly follow Hebrew ways.

However - I do not agree with Mr Brenner's idea that all NT should be translated back into Hebrew
Matthew was written by a Hebrew to a Hebrew audience
Luke was a Greek writing to Greeks - why would he use Hebrew?
All the letter were written to a Greek speaking audience
Translating them back into Hebrew just adds error - we already have enough

These people were Hebrew first, some Gentiles becoming Hebrew, and later called Christians because they knew Jesus as their Saviour.

Jeff Benner speaks of a Jewish scholar called Shem Tov, who during the 14th century wrote a document describing how bad the Greek translation of Matthew was and includes on his debate a copy of Matthew in Hebrew. Some say the Shem Tov version of Matthew ridicules Jesus, and may have bias towards the Jews. This may be possible, but it may also be possible the book of Matthew was written in Hebrew, and later copied into Greek. The Shem Tov of Matthew 24:44 is the same as the Psalm 110:1 verse in Hebrew:-
