There are 400,000 people living in tents in Haiti because of the earth quake 2 1/2 yrs ago. These people had no idea a hurricane was coming until CNN came and told them. They are going to be right under the hurricane. I see a real tradegy going to happen here. After CNN started telling the people about the hurricane The Powers That Be finally came out to tell the people to seek safety but there is no place to go. They are afraid if they leave their tent someone will steal it.

Apparently most of the land is owned by either the gov or private parties. The Haitian gov says there is no land to build homes on. Another part of the problem is that Haiti is only large enough to hold 50,000 people----not millions. Perhaps the gov was hoping a few thousand would parish. Let nature 'CULL THE HERD'.The problem now is disease and how many will die from illness.

Yeah - the leves in New Orleans held
Now the city is only flooded! Wait? Isn't that what the leves are for? OH Ya, it was the rain. Thats a lot different, or is it.
How much does it take before people realize that New Orleans is a lost cause. If ocean levels rise, and storms continue to grow in strength and frequency; the resluts are obvious to everyone. If people in New Orleans were smart, they would just get out now while they can; and move somewhere away from the gulf. Move someplace safe like LA or San Francisco.

Yeh---and be sure to bring there guns with.
There is the gov of one of the provinces. His house was des troyed by Katrina but he rebuilt. Concrete walls, windows designed to handle 200 mile winds. Probably spent a half million dollars. Oh, also built it up on stilts.
Guess what. The roof blew off and rain was coming down sideways and was poring thru the cement between the blocks like facets he said. Totally destroyed again.
People just won't learn.

My father, who was born in 1908, would say every year, "Why don't the people along the Mississippi just build houses on pontoons. The water rises every spring. Their houses would float. The waters recede and you are still at home, but back on ground."
But what could he possibly know? His generation didn't do anything except, mass produce the car and the airplane, build the Hoover Dam, build the Grand Coulee Dam, smash the atom, win WWII, make American the envy of everyone in the world, and go to the moon.
