I admit the context is hard to fathom hence we ponder confusion.
You agree with me that no creature can challenge the Creator.
Can a child challenge the parent? No not ever.
When the child grows up, the parent decides for the sake of love in the family to give the wayward child it's own space, to rebel with SELF.
The rebellious son glee's, now I can do my own thing without rules.
One day the family grows up and another son who used to be good like their parents has decided to be bad, and become more rebellious.
SO the parents ask, who shall help this new wayward son become more rebellious? 1Ki 22:20
Some brothers and sister mutter and rumble and heads down.
The wayward son comes in and says, I will do this. 1Ki 22:21
The parents sadly agree, go and do what? 1Ki 22:22
The wayward son who functions as a medium, says I will be functioning as a lying medium to help this other son become more like me doing more RA. 1Ki 22:22
So the parents say, the parents given permission to this idea and thus the RA is allowed to increase. 1Ki 22:23
Question: Does this mean the wayward Son is now on friendly terms with the parents? no
But the parents are using every tactic of love to try to get the wayward son to listen and respond to their love.
Who empowers the wayward son, feeds him, shelter him and clothes him? The parents do.
Who decided to be rebellious? the son does all on his own.
Does this make the wayward son an opposing force to the parents? Of course it does.
But the parents are limited by love, whereas the wayward son is not limited by love. The wayward son can cheat, lie and deceive.
Could we say the parents and the wayward sons are friendly? Maybe, after all love even has respect for evil doers, because love hopes they will repent of their ways.
I hope this simile sheds some light on this difficult passage Dave. Love from GOD is powerful, and even allows evil angels respect.
Shalom
