When I ask about praying in the spirit – most people direct me to 1 Corinthians 14 But, I am more interested in:
Eph 6:18 with all prayer and supplication praying at all seasons in the Spirit, and watching thereunto in all perseverance and supplication for all the saints,
Rom 8:26 And in like manner the Spirit also helpeth our infirmity: for we know not how to pray as we ought; but the Spirit himself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered;
Jud 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,

IMO I understand the Father or Jesus, talks to us via the conscience during prayer and Bible reading, but I also understand the Holy Spirit also speaks to us as well. Which or whom the still small voice does not matter does it? It is by Jesus we are saved ...
Not sure about praying directly to the Holy Spirit? IMO this is wrong.
Job 21:15 What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him? (KJV)
Perhaps you might like to help me out with this strange verse...the translation feels wrong? I am no Hebrew expert... But isn't the Shadday feminine ? why is it masculine in the Hebrew? hence we pray to him, rather than her?
If the translation is correct, I see it as Hebrew see families, the father is the same as a mother, same body, and praying to either personality, you pray to Him, the Father. That's how Hebrew works.
Shalom

Praying In The Spirit - A Deeper PrayerVery charismatic – moving background music – I was moved Lion of Judah – unknown except Christian oriented 00:28 – When we become totally committed in prayer 01:05 – When did God set Job free – praying for others – interceding (comment later) 02:20 – Give ourselves’ continually in Prayer (story later) 02:45 – Psalms 38:9 Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee. Mat 6:8 Be not therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. 03:35 – Jesus is our intercessor – Hmmmm – I’ll let it go 03:40 – a groan so deep that cannot be uttered – Psa 38:9 04:25 – if we only knew how to pray 04:45 – Repentance come through strife (comment later) 05:20 – James 5:13 Is any among you suffering? let him pray. Is any cheerful? let him sing praise. 06:30- 8:00 Asking for stuff07:50 – ask and you shall receive Gnostic – It depends what you ask for - asking for stuff by a spirit guided / spirit led Christian will always be – may God’s Will be done Rich makes this point – when they pray for someone – they uses a ‘man-made ritual’ to help them remember – they say: heal if it His will – grant if it is His will – solve the trouble as His will be done. This ‘man-made ritual’ is a tool they use to remind them prayers are no to be – I want this and I want that – but always: Mat 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. 9:08 - Repentance come through strife The Nag Hammadi Library - The Exegesis on the SoulIt is therefore fitting to pray to the father and to call on him with all our soul - not externally with the lips, but with the spirit, which is inward, which came forth from the depth - sighing; repenting for the life we lived; confessing our sins; perceiving the empty deception we were in, and the empty zeal; weeping over how we were in darkness and in the wave; mourning for ourselves, that he might have pity on us; hating ourselves for how we are now.
Again the savior said (cf Mt 5:4, Lk 6:12): "Blessed are those who mourn, for it is they who will be pitied; blessed, those who are hungry, for it is they who will be filled."
Again he said (cf. Lk 14:26), "If one does not hate his soul he cannot follow me." For the beginning of salvation is repentance. Therefore (cf. Acts 13:24), "Before Christ`s appearance came John, preaching the baptism of repentance."
And repentance takes place in distress and grief. But the father is good and loves humanity, and he hears the soul that calls upon him and sends it the light of salvation. Therefore he said through the spirit to the prophet (cf. 1 Cl 8:3), "Say to the children of my people, 'If your sins extend from earth to heaven, and if they become red like scarlet and blacker than sackcloth, and if you return to me with all your soul and say to me 'my Father!', I will heed you as a holy people.'"The Nag Hammadi Library - The Gospel of Thomas(69) Jesus said, "Blessed are they who have been persecuted within themselves. It is they who have truly come to know the father.09:30 – nearer to the fireThe Nag Hammadi Library - The Gospel of Thomas(2) Jesus said, "Let him who seeks continue seeking until he finds. When he finds, he will become troubled. When he becomes troubled, he will be astonished, and he will rule over the All." (82) Jesus said, "He who is near me is near the fire, and he who is far from me is far from the kingdom." 10:00 – Continual conversation – praying without ceasingThe Nag Hammadi Library - The Apocryphon of James Invoke the Father, implore God often, and he will give to you.praying in the Holy Spirit praying in the (morally blameless ) (Soul)"How do we strengthen that relationship Rabbi Friedman says every time we do Mitzvah counts every good deed counts
For me - the key here is the term 'every time'
When does every time become all the time?
My Example #1 An Amish School house was attacked by a gunman that killed 7 Amish girls - then himself People brought food to the Amish in mourning - then in turn the Amish took some to the gunman's wife She asked why would they do that - simple - she suffered a loss as well
Later in an interview with an Amish mother that lost 2 girls that day, the wife of the gunman asked the Amish mother how she could ever forgive the gunman?
The Amish mother answered - it is so easy - I just close my eyes and pray and I give my anger to the Lord
It's that easy? Yes, she answered, it is that easy - then I take a step and do it again, another step and another prayer, over and over until I lay myself down to sleep - then tomorrow, I just do it over and over, until I have no more tomorrows.
Continuous Mitzvah
Example #2 - When does walking with the spirit stop being a Sun day stroll and start to be a way of life, where you walk in the spirit all the time. When you walk with Him - He walks with you.
The Archon - are there to make us forget - keep us from remembering By keeping us side tracked with matters of physical survival and temptations Dead end religions + being economic debt slaves + Rome polluting the Gospel turning us away from church + the educational system turning us away - all part of God's Great Contest
It is up to us to knock and keep on knocking without pause. If I were a Monk and could FOCUS all my time - but I'm not. But all my conscious focus is upon the Lord and I see Him every where I look.

11:00 – prayer in relation to our earthly lives11:07 – some of the troubles in our lives – is set against us – Archon The Nag Hammadi Library - The Gospel of Thomas(5) Jesus said, "Recognize what is in your sight, and that which is hidden from you will become plain to you . For there is nothing hidden which will not become manifest." (69) Jesus said to them, "You read the face of the sky and of the earth, but you have not recognized the one who is before you, and you do not know how to read this moment."The Nag Hammadi Library - The Apocryphon of James"Verily I say unto you, no one will ever enter the kingdom of heaven at my bidding, but (only) because you yourselves are full.
Then Peter replied, "Lo, three times you have told us, 'Become full'; but we are full." The Savior answered and said, "For this cause I have said to you, 'Become full,' that you may not be in want. They who are in want, however, will not be saved. For it is good to be full, and bad to be in want. Hence, just as it is good that you be in want and, conversely, bad that you be full, so he who is full is in want, and he who is in want does not become full as he who is in want becomes full, and he who has been filled, in turn attains due perfection. Therefore, you must be in want while it is possible to fill you, and be full while it is possible for you to be in want, so that you may be able to fill yourselves the more. Hence, become full of the Spirit, but be in want of reason, for reason <belongs to> the soul; in turn, it is (of the nature of) soul."
"Hasten to be saved without being urged! Instead, be eager of your own accord, and, if possible, arrive even before me; for thus the Father will love you."
"Become earnest about the word! For as to the word, its first part is faith; the second, love; the third, works; for from these comes life.

The Meaning of Prayer - Chuck Missler youtu.be/tVP4qBwSlCo1:40 – God only answers those prayers asked in the name of Jesus “Catholic” – disagree. This may be true for Christians – but there were many prayers asked and answered in the ahl 2:30 – It is our own iniquities that cloud our prayers - agreed Isa 59:1 Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: :2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. 6:45 – Philippians 4:6 (Dad Joke – in my family we call this Filipinians) 7:30 – asking – always asking – disagree – there needs to time to listen as well – the communion is two ways – us to Him – and Him to us. I think some people never shut up so how can they ever listen? Televangelist – Joyce Meyer – talks of “Just Prayers” (The only thing she says I hold fast) Catholics feels so guilty before the Lord – prayers become “Just Prayers” – If you just forgive me this – and if you would just forgive me that – an some spend their entire prayer life apologizing 8:28 = Romans 8:28 (How did he do that?) I love this guy – but he did not speak of ‘Praying in the Spirit’

Continual conversation – praying without ceasing
In AA they taught us about choice. Choose to drink or choose to go to a meeting. When that meeting is over find another. When there are no meetings meet with your sponsor. Because as long as we are in a meeting, we are not drinking.
Continous meetings without ceasing, one day at a time.

This Rabbi sure sounds Christian – it is a little long and boring, but very Jewish
02:10 – Prayer is the fruit of the day

23:00 – Thank God for our needs, thank God for our failings, thank God for satan – otherwise we would understand how desperately we need God
25:00 – Prayer is a personal Confession – self judgment Am I asking for the right stuff – do I deserve what I am asking for? 27:40 – Prayer changes us

My Prayer Life I am not saying I know how. Not telling anyone to follow my example. I am just sharing my own walk. Mathew 6 has been a real stumbling block to my organized church experience. Jesus says, Mat 6:5 And when ye pray, ye shall not be as the hypocrites: for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.
Mat 6:7 And in praying use not vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. These versus make me feel uncomfortable in Sun day churches – our local ‘Church of Christ’ deliberately blasphemes these words of Jesus 5 and 6 times every service. When I ask – I am told – I’m silly, because no one ever asked that before – even thought it – ITS TRADITION Jesus says – don’t stand up front and babble on like the pagans do! Yet, I see it over and over in Roman / Catholic churches. This is a major part of my issue with Paul. Jesus says DON’T. The church says, Paul’s teaches us not to follow laws and regulations – its OK, be liberal, God forgives! Some christian are well known – recognized – for their ability to speak publicly. Not for their Christian walk or example, but man they can sure lay it on. –Yech – show offs – church entertainers Jesus says, in the Nag hammadi Text – to invoke the Father’s name often – some ‘holier-than-thou’ christians can’t tell you a story without dropping the Lord’s name 26 times – Al I hear from them is – ‘Look at me, I’m a Christian’ – Look at me – me –me I served on a church board for a few years. I hated it! Some has to count the collection. You know who gives and who don’t. Personal checks are the worst. The tax code say, if you pay by check to a 501C3 organization, it is a valid tax deduction. Why did I need to know that Dave & Jesse only give $20, but Frank gives $2000. – I don’t want to know. – I don’t CARE to know. Instead Jesus says,Mat 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thine inner chamber, and having shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret, and thy Father who seeth in secret shall recompense thee. In the Nag Hammadi, - The Dialogue of the Savior (low weight, because too much is missing), (91) Jesus says, “Pray in the place where there is no woman."Personal – in secret – alone – away from distractions Mat 6:8 Be not therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. Asking for stuff – I discuss everything with the Lord – but when I am in formal prayer ‘on my knees –sort of” I feel uncomfortable asking for material stuff – asking for wants. People ask for what they want- God knows what we need (how many of us actually pray for a kick in the ass?) In formal prayer, I make it a point to only ask His will for me. I pray to be a good father for my girls. I pray that my witness only glorifies Him. But in my formal prayers I ask for guidance and understanding – help me understand. Mat 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Mat 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. The first thing Jesus says – praise God – first and foremost. This is a ritual part of my morning prayers – watching the sunrise in Colorado any day of the year is God’s grandeur – His handiwork speak to me here. For years I made a 50 mile drive to work, at dawn. Sometimes I would become so lost in my amazement of God and the beauty of His creation that I forget where I am on the highway – Im here already? The second thing Jesus says is pray that God’s will is done – again this is not what I want – it is what He wants that matters I pray in several ways and in each – and I do use man-made religious tools / props I have a contineous prayer life – an ongoing conversation with the Lord – about everything – as I drive (no radio), as I shop, as I type these letters. I share jokes with the Lord and discuss the news with the lord. My man-made prop. Jews wear a head covering for two reasons. It sets them apart as priest / witnesses for the Lord. But primarily, they wear a head covering to cover their same for their sins. I grew up im Amish country. My sister married a ‘jerked-over-Amish’ (his family was 100% Amish until he was 13 – then his family left the church). I worked along the Amish for years. One day at work, it was a sweltering day. By lunch time we were all drenched in sweat. But every Amish guy picked up their hat and put it on –why I asked. Lovely man, Ora Mast, told me why. He said there are some things I can do in front of my wife, which I can’t do in front of you. – There are things I can do in front of you, but not the boss. – Then he says, imagine the things I can’t do, If Jesus was stand right in front of me. – The brim of his hat, is a reminder to him – that he is always overshadowed but the Lord. I have worn my hat since 1977 – and only I know why. I understand the Mosanic Law dress code – dress up very differently – so anyone anywhere will know you stand for the Lord. Go to the Mall back in Northern Indiana and you can identify the denomination by the dress code – look he id Amish – she is Mennonite – and the other guy is Jewish – just by looking Walking bill-boards for the Lord! Since my retirement I tried to let my beard grow long and ugly and my temple locks - but I couln't stand it after several months Praying at meals – we hold hands and bow our heads. If we say anything – we give thanks for the food, our lives, and our family and as that the food be blessed. We do not awls pray at meals because the family is often on different schedules – which makes family meals together even more special We hold hands and bow in restaurants! Just to be a witness to the people around us. My daughter, Sophia, is amazing at this. Formal prayers – for me this is morning. A former member here Ali (Muslim – from Tehran, Iran) said Christians rape, pillage, and plunder all day – then say their prayers before we go to bed, so we can sleep with a clean conscious – then wake up and do it again the next day. My family does morning prayers. I used to sit with the lights off and pray in the dark smelling the coffee brewing – yummy – before my drive to work. Now that I am retired, I have been saying my morning prayers from under the covers. I am awake hours before my children. I could get up and wake them (small house) – or spend the morning with the Lord. All warm and toasty under the blankets. There is an exercise I do to stretch out my lower back. I lay on my back and draw my knees to my chest. OR I assume the same position kneeling. I do this under the blankets, sometimes with the blankets pulled over my head. It is a very humbling position from which to pray. I am investigating a new man-made religious tool / prop. Wearing my hat in Sun day church was always an issue of respect (for them not me) – So I started wearing a yamaka to Sun day church – whenever I go – I wear it (just to be a butt – an irritant – a witness to their pagan traditions) I now have my own tallit – Roman Christians think Paul was a ‘tent’ maker – he made tallits. It is your own personal Jewish Temple. No matter where you are – once wrapped up in your tallit, you are alone with God – in the dark – in private = away from the world. Hopefully, this prop will get me out of bed and on my knees – a thing to do – a part of my schedule – first thing in the morning (Good morning God - hello) Praying Scripture – When I said I pray for understanding – it is usually about scripture. I will read a passage like: Luke 2:1-5 and then I pray about it – I ask questions – I offer opinions – but one of the biggest points made – is listen – I sit in silence – is this meditation? I have done this a lot over the years. I make an attempt to listen – shut up and listen! I journal – I write – I was taught this habit in my youth as a way to manage my own manic depression. Most of my journals express my anger with the Lord – why did He make me defective – am I cursed or something? I write when I am mad – I have broken keyboards. As a manic it must vent somewhere – at my boss (done that a few times) at my wife (done that too) at my mother (still carry this guilt) at my innocent children (God forbid) – I write my anger to the Lord. Over the past 45 years – I have written the same ole attitudes and whinny complaints over and over. After a while, they begin to take shape and I can see myself in print – that is humbling. All this journaling to the Lord – has results in 3 books on Amazon. My time at the keyboard has been a much of my prayer life as any other – me and Him bashing about my confusion. My daughters journal every morning for 30 minutes – each day they begin with – Dear God I cry – I admit it! I am manic depressive and thing move me. I cry at movies. I cry when I see news stories about people being hurt. I have worked in medicine for 38 years I have seen many people die. They give you this look that says help me – and they die. 17 yr old girl fell asleep at the wheel and killed her mother in an accident – I cried. For both of them. I have prayed with many patients. On my knees and many words – NO – sometimes just a soft reminder that God is here. Being grabbed and held by a grieving mother that just lost her baby , child, or husband – affects you for a long time. I am crying now thinking of the pain I’ve seen – emotional and physical - I give it all to God, or I would explode.

Too many things here Dave,... loved your comments on personal prayer, listened to the first two video... too much here to digest... The Jewish presentation on prayer: 1 man solves all problems, don't need GOD 2 our prayers arn't answered, is GOD interested in little old me? 3 mechanics of prayer, its hebrew nature 4 hard to pay attention today, times change...minds wander 5 technology plugged in, sounds, I-pads, etc, hard to live in silence 6 out of touch with who we are, so we don't have anything to pray about 7 we have shallow relationships, we cut people out of our lives... 8 why do I have to tell God stuff, if He knows already? Prayer is I know better than God, so why do I pray anyway, God knows me better than I am... Hebrew word for prayer "taphillah" 2Sa 7:27 Root meaning: connection, attachment, prayer is to connect to GOD 15: We have a godly divine soul, part of us is not physical, part is a godly soul, my soul thirsts for GOD... to connect to its soul. While this is Jewish, is it Hebrew? What does "ruwach" mean? Ruwach does not mean soul. Nepshesh means soul. Why do Jews mix their terms? Hebrew says Dust + Ruwach (force from Father as breath) = Soul. It also says Man became a soul. I like the way He says the divine part wants us to connect to GOD. It is true the Holy Spirit lives in creatures helping us connect. Every relationship is based on communication... like a couple having a close talk... prayer bridges the infinite gap to puny little humans Well said. Ps 145:18 The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth (emanuah). Prayer is declaration of expressing our faith in GOD... proclaiming we are your creatures... declares our faith in GOD... we get closer to GOD when we acknowledge, I depend upon You for everything. The Jewish concept of faith is too much human powered. SO in our Baal Master powers of human self, we talk faith and thus we build faith in GOD? No, that's not how I see amanuah. Amanuah means "to support" one in a relationship. In my marriage I show my love by supporting my wife in what we do together for each other. With GOD that's more difficult to do, because GOD is divine, invisible and not of matter as a Being. So the way we do things together is by supporting His power flow through me, that's what I see meaning faith. For example at night I pray to GOD and say call upon me at 3:00 am tomorrow O Lord. What are these words? Words from Jeremiah 33:3. When I look at food, before I look at food, I might pray, Lord lead me not into anything dysfunctional. And power flow of GOD allow me to overlook the manmade manufactured madness. If I don't prayer these words, the power flow does not happen, I am not supporting GOD, and He is not close to me in that moment right than. Often we sin thousands of times daily, because in our continual need to support GOD, we forget to ask and pray, so we walk alone in our own Baal Master Human Powers of Self. We did not hop over to GOD and pray for His power. I tend to see constant praying a constant talking and listening to GOD, easy to do in the silence of the day, alone with GOD, but hard in the presence of other humans, we tend to talk and do using our own Baal Master powers of Human Self. prayer is the fruit of the day... not the materialism at the end of the day... is the prayer itself...being close to GOD is more important. well said. correct. Prayer is more important than the power flow resulting from prayer. But it is the power flow that rewards your faith, and gives you confidence GOD is real to you. Often if the prayer fails, I ask why, and often its silence, later I am told you were presumptuous or arrogant. Speak about your faith, builds your faith. When you tell one you love them, you build that love. I would disagree here. Human talk means nothing to GOD. Praying over HIS words means lots, especially if that power flows through you, ie you allow it to flow. I have never been humble enough to allow GOD to do a public miracle through me, but its not because GOD can't but because I am not fully trained for this. Why even our Church Pastors suggest our faith in GOD is in silence? Is this true? No, God is not silent. He talks to us daily as a still small voice. The Devils also talk to us. Knowing which voice is which is hard. By their fruits ye shall know them. Thank you GOD for making me with lacks and needs, so I have to turn to you... I would disagree with this idea. GOD made us perfect, fully TOV able to respond to all things and lacking nothing. If we have lack it is because of RA, and Ra came from a relationship of Satan...of a lack in our genes from RA... were we not fearfully and wonderfully made? Notice this curse when GOD blesses us Ho 13:6 According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me. People who are saved still have RA with their TOV, so when we get more and more TOV, the RA rises in pride and we forget GOD. How do we remove RA? so we stay thirsty and hungry for GOD? give away your blessing to others...become relational in loving. Self love does not exist in a world of TOV. Dave you are so lucky and blessed to have people who need your love and emotions. God bless you and keep you and keep that gift in you. You have become a real blessing to others. Thank you for the times we share...even if we don't agree, maybe GOD will overlook our differences and judge us by the light we know. I will write some more about your prayers...later...sometimes we need time to reflect and listen to GOD first....write less and listen more. Shalom my friend

Of course you don't think the Jews know their own faith or language
If you are perfect – you don’t need God. If you are perfect – why study His word?

The word perfect in Hebrew IMO when I study it, means complete. Functionally complete. A living machine without corrupt DNA in it, no propensities to do RA, etc. Only GOD know all things, does all things, is not made of matter. We are on the other hand, know much less, do much less and are made of matter, hence in this sense we are puny and tiny and therefore in need of GOD, because we lack... When a baby is born it is born perfect, but unlike its parents it has a tremendous lack... it can't walk, it can't talk, it can't argue, not yet...it lacks experience, it lacks the doing of love.... That's how I see our connection with GOD, to experience more love, more miracles of love, more dimensions of love, and appreciate love more fully. Shalom

Now you are Islamic - Allah call his followers be τέλειος (perfect) Ethan at AHR made this point almost weekly - He said Jesus called us to be Muslim ihyae.com/muhammad-the-perfect-man/One of God’s greatest blessings upon us is that God has bestowed us the complete religion, and the perfect Prophet: Muhammad (PBUH) Allah Almighty had bestowedour Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him) by giving him a perfect heart.
And the perfection of his heart lies in his mercy, tenderness, forgivenessknowledge, wisdom, vigilance, and forgiveness. It also lies in his piety, faith, certainty, modesty, loyalty and justice and it lies in its freedom of malevolence, jealousy, hatred, jealousy, suspicion, and hypocrisy.
No one can grasp the height of perfection embodied in our Prophet Mohammed peace andblessings be upon him. Therefore, we offer only the best aspects of this Mohammedan perfection.
So Eve didn't disobey? She was perfect and could not sin? What if you are born with corrupt DNA - are you saying it is impossible to be saved if you have MS, MD, or Trisome 9? Did you sin in the womb - it imoossible to be saved - what are you saying - the Muslims say this also Joh 5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing befall thee. So - if you get sick - have a heart attack - or suffer a stroke - it is because you are a sinner The worse we are as sinner the worse our disease Catholics taught this all through the DARK AGES You told me you taught school – when did you know the subject better, as a student, or as the teacher, or as the teacher five years after teaching the same subject I think you just miss the point - it is how we humans grow Hmmmmmm? I don’t know if I can relate to this or not. In every conversation with anyone – my mind is exploding with ideas - things I would love to share with them – people express scriptural themes all the time – I want to show them just how amazingly scriptural they are. Every patient – EVERY patient says a prayer before surgery Every loved one says a prayer as their loved ones die There are no atheist in fox holes Joke – what does an atheist say when you throw them off a building? Answer – They scream out - OH GOD! All the way to the bottom When you talk to your mates at work – don’t you hear their desire for God in what they say?

Your right my friend, Well said It's good to have my pride crushed by your words, in humility I should spend more time looking out for others as you say. Your right. I am sorry.
